Life-Giving Truth

How has the past 5 weeks discussing the value of immersion changed you? What has God been doing in your heart through this series?

Discuss this statement

“Expectation is the enemy of love.”

Do you agree? If not how come? If so, why is it the enemy?

Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

What is the first part of this passage saying about love?

Do you agree?

Read verse 4-7

What is love? By Paul’s definition, what sense do you get about what it means to really love?

Do you think this kind of love is possible for a human?

If you say no, then why do you think Paul calls us to it?

Which of the traits of love is most difficult for you to come to terms with/live out?

What can you do to begin taking active steps to changing that?

How did you answer the question in your heart this morning: based on this definition, have you ever really loved someone?

What thoughts came to mind? Feelings? Emotions?

Read verse 8

What is this verse saying about love?

Do you give love this same amount of importance and significance in your understanding of what it means to live out your faith?

What kinds of things do you put ahead of love (ie. Bible reading, Devotions, being good, personal worship, etc)

Life-Giving Relationships

We cannot choose to love people on our own… God has to change something in our heart. When we approach people with expectations, it reveals a level of brokenness in our hearts.

Who would like healing prayer for something specific pertaining to this concept of love?
