Life-Giving Truth
How did lasts weeks truth impact your heart, “I belong to God.”
What do you think is keeping you from really being impacted by this truth and others?
This week’s truth:
The Struggle is worth it.
Read Romans 8:18
Is your life a struggle? Is the “Suffering,” in your life the kind Paul is talking about in Romans 8?
Read each of the three verses below that describe the kind of suffering Paul is talking about…
- Self Denial
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
- Living for others
You have heard that it was said, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH. But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
- Being rejected
Matthew 5:11
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Now answer the above question again
Is your life a struggle? Is the “Suffering,” in your life the kind Paul is talking about in Romans 8?
Which of those three is toughest for you to live out?
Why is suffering an important element in this truth?
Read the Romans 8:19-25
What is this passage saying about the state of all creation? Why is it longing so desperately?
Do you long for heaven? Why or why not?
Why does suffering intensify our longing for heaven?
Do you believe what you have coming to you is better than this life? Is your life consistent with that answer?
How would it change the way you life if you did believe this truth?
