Life-Giving Prayer
In what ways did you intentionally invest in your personal relationship with God this week? How did it impact your heart?
Why do you think we ask a question about your “week of worship,” every week?
Life-Giving Truth
How does it make you feel to be asked to consider weather or not the church experience you are most comfortable with might be missing the target?
Read Acts 1:1-11
What is the point of Acts 1:1-2? What is being insinuated?
(The answer to this question lies in the idea that our job is to continue the ministry of Jesus. The Church was meant to take the place of Jesus on earth and continue His mission and legacy)
What do you sense about what this passage is written for? How is it meant to move us in the wake of Jesus’ ascension into heaven?
(We should be motivated, intentional, and moved to action. We have a job to do)
What is the thing this passage is telling the disciples to, “Wait,” for? Why is that significant?
(It’s the Holy Spirit, that’s where the power comes from to accomplish the mission we are sent out to live)
What is the imagery of the “Looking into the sky,” say about the church? Why is it problematic for us to be caught in a daze, and not purposeful and intentional??
(Help people sense the urgency connected to this concept. The problem with them starring into the sky is that they have not been moved to action by Jesus last words)
What are the actions we should be, as a church, “Moved to?”
In what ways do you see FLC as on mission, and in what ways might we be missing the target set forth by this passage?
