What is the general spirit that you sense in the words of Mary?

Below are 4 things that made Mary a good choice for God to use her.
Mary was connected in relationship with God
Mary had eternal perspective
Mary was surrendered to her maker
Mary was entirely humble
Why do you think each of these things are a pre-requisite to being used by God?
How are these things different then what the world values in a useful person?
