Truth: Everything comes back to Jesus

Read through the below comparison of the God centered vs “Us” centered church.

  1. The God centered church vs. the “Us” centered church

-       The “Us,” centered church

  • Program driven
  • Relies on human engineering and talents for results
  • Measures success in the physical world
    • “Nickels and noses”
    • Keeps the glory for self

Why do you think most churches gravitate toward an us centered approach?

What will be the natural product of an “Us,” centered church?

In what ways are you tempted to approach church this way? In what ways do you see us as a church being “Us” centered?

-       The “God Centered Church

  • Missionally driven
  • Relies on the power of the Holy Spirit for results
  • Measures success in the heavenly kingdom
  • Defers all glory to God

How is the God centered church different?

Why do you think most churches lose sight of this? (Tough to measure, doesn’t earn respect of others, not very glamerous, etc.)

Read Acts 3:11-21

How does this passage show a God-centered approach to ministry?

Read Acts 4:1-12

What is the result of their God-centered approach?

What is the central truth to their mission?

Why does keeping singular focus make it easier to stay God-centered?

What do you think we need to do to make sure we stay God-centered, or become more God centered?
